Commissions

Pieces are commissioned from clients nationwide.  Paintings in the client's chosen theme and color scheme can be applied to objects that the client provides or orders can be placed for a type of piece that the artist will attempt to locate.  Clients are asked to submit photographs of their old furniture and then discuss their interests with Maxine in order to design the concept for the finished product.

Technique

Acrylic paint over a stain blocker and gesso base finished with several coats of polyurethane provides for a sturdy, resilient finish, which makes most of these distinctive pieces 'functional art.' 

"Before" and "After" Photographs

 "Before" is prior to scum, oil and grease removal.  The old plumber's trunk was then repaired and thoroughly sanded.  "After" shows a bright and unusual fine piece of Islamic style art created from the neglected and shabby-looking old, metal-clad trunk.
